One arrested after stabbing on Mississippi River

Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says one was arrested and another was injured after a stabbing on the Mississippi River Sunday evening.

Chief Deputy Jarrett Walton writes that the assault was between Power Dam Road and Roosevelt Road SE, with two groups of people tubing down the river.

Both groups stopped at a shallow area. The group of about 25 got into an argument which led to a large fight around 6:30 p.m.

During the fight, 20-year-old Alleyah Goodman of Deer River stabbed a 21-year-old Bemidji woman in the arm.

Law enforcement met with the victim and provided aid. The woman was later transported to the Sanford Bemidji ER.

Goodman was arrested a short time later without incident.

The Leech Lake Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Bemidji Police Department, Bemidji Ambulance, and North Country First Responders assisted at the scene.
