A Shevlin man is being held without bail after stealing a Bagley Police squad car over the weekend.
According to the criminal complaint, 27-year-old Shane Teigland is accused of breaking into the interim Bagley Police Chief’s squad as it was idling outside the police station.
The investigation indicated he used the nearby American Legion’s outdoor ashtray to break into the vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officer Ryan Schipper heard the stereo on full blast and saw the car drive away.
Schipper told Clearwater County Deputy Weems to approach the suspect with caution as a personal, department-issued shotgun and his department-issued handgun were in the patrol vehicle.
After three attempted PIT maneuvers and the use of a spike strip in the 25-mile pursuit, the stolen Bagley PD squad was stopped in neighboring Mahnomen County and Teigland was removed from the driver’s seat.
Based on the nonsensical statements Teigland reportedly said and the nearly empty bottle of vodka found in the squad, Teigland was believed to be under the influence.
Teigland is facing four new felony charges and was already on probation, with a series of driving while intoxicated convictions on his criminal record.
He’ll make his next court appearance on Aug. 10.
