The Minnesota Department of Human Services announced today that starting Sept. 1, families earning up to 200 percent of the federal poverty line will be eligible for SNAP, the supplemental nutrition assistance program.
According to a release, the guideline shift from 165 percent to 200 percent of the federal poverty line means about 1,400 more families are eligible for the program.
Under the new limit, a family of three with an annual income of up to $46,000 before taxes will be eligible.
The change won’t increase or modify the monthly amount of SNAP assistance for an individual or family.
