Council discusses hiring process for new Sanford Center director

BEMIDJI– The Bemidji City Council discussed the hiring process of the new Executive Director of the Sanford Center during the meeting Monday.

Council person Michael Beard of Ward 2 suggested that the council undertake a task force to oversee the hiring process.

Beard and Ward 3 council person Ron Johnson expressed concern over the six directors the Sanford Center’s had over the last nine years.

Beard said that working with the VenuWorks executives in the hiring process would be in the best interest of the council, and then they would have some say on who the next director should be.

Jeff Kossow, the current executive director, is leaving for another position in Washington State at the end of June.
