Park Rapids man facing charges for tampering with phone and internet lines of a Hubbard County deputy

A Park Rapids man is facing two felony counts of damaging the telecom lines of his neighbor in a couple of incidents last October.

According to the criminal complaint, 46-year-old Paul Fietek is accused of cutting his neighbor’s internet and phone lines, a deputy with the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office.

Damages reported were estimated to cost over $100, for the service call, new lines, and a damaged mailbox.

When confronted by a Park Rapids Police Officer with an arrest warrant, Fietek tackled the responding Officer, leaving minor damages but was eventually brought into custody after several knee strikes to gain compliance.

Fietek told officers that he believed his neighbor was surveilling him as part of the task force.

The deputy in question does not work for the task force and reportedly was not conducting surveillance from his personal residence.

Fietek will make his next court appearance next week.
