Laporte man facing charges for high speed motorcycle chase

A 26-year-old Laporte man is facing a felony count of fleeing police after a high-speed pursuit that exceeded speeds of 100 miles an hour last summer.

According to a criminal complaint obtained this week, Hubbard County deputies received reports of a motorcycle speeding through a construction zone in July on County Road 16. A deputy parked at the site to observe violations.

The complaint says while in pursuit of a speeding motorcycle, the deputy was able to get close enough at one point to record the license plate number, but called off the dangerous pursuit.

The license plate number led investigators to 26-year-old Dallas Griffith, who admitted to seeing the deputy with the lights on but did not hear the siren.

Griffith reportedly told law enforcement he did not believe he endangered himself or anyone else by driving at speeds well in excess of 100 miles an hour.

Griffith posted a $15,000 bond and will make his next court appearance next week.
