Filing for the vacant Ward 1 seat on the Bemidji City Council will begin a week from today.
According to a release, candidates must submit an affidavit and the filing fee between City Hall Hours from Tuesday, Jan. 31, through Tuesday, Feb. 14.
The initial election will be Tuesday, April 11.
If more than two candidates file and no candidate gains more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two finishers would then advance to a secondary election on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
Candidate filing packets are available at City Hall and on the city’s website.
