Minnesota’s 5A representative Matt Bliss discussed some of the issues he is working on this session.
Bliss, a Republican from Pennington representing portions of Beltrami, Cass and Itasca counties, says the “stand your ground” bill he introduced earlier in the session may not receive a hearing this year in the House.
Bliss says it addresses what he perceives as shortfalls in Minnesota’s traditional stance of “duty to retreat.”
Bliss is also a co-signer on a bill that would help Bemidji Area Schools with their transportation shortfall. Due to the Bemidji district’s vastness, the transportation formula from the state generally costs at least $750,000 a year out of the district’s general fund.
