The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office recently donated an automated external defibrillator, or AED, to the Beltrami County Historical Society.
According to a release, this donation was made possible partially by the Leona and Harry Helmsley Trust and the U of M, which recently purchased 41 new AEDs for the BCSO.
Prior to this donation from BCSO, the Historical Society did not have an AED on the premises.
Executive Director Emily Thabes expressed her gratitude for the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office for the partnership to preserve the ongoing safety of visitors and volunteers.
Staff, board members and volunteers completed AED training at the March board meeting.
Studies suggest that survival from cardiac arrest greatly increases when bystanders use an AED.
