Beltrami Electric Cooperative’s youth essay contest returns

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Beltrami Electric Cooperative is once again offering a high school junior the opportunity to tour our nation’s capital.

Requirements to participate include having a parent or guardian be a Beltrami Electric member.

Interested students have until Friday, Feb. 25 to apply, submit an essay and two letters of reference from teachers, group or community leaders.

During the tour, electric cooperatives from rural areas across the nation sponsor around 1,900 students.

The tour is scheduled for June 14-19.

Winners of the contest will be able to explore museums, memorials and monuments during the trip, as well as learn about how our government works and what the electric cooperative business model is all about.

Applications are available at school counselor’s offices and online.
