Bemidji City Council hears first Police Advisory Board report

The Bemidji City Council heard the first annual report from the Community and Police Advisory Board in their meeting Tuesday.

The board, in its second year, required members to participate in a ridealong with a Bemidji Police Officer, which, according to board member and Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Bemidji Area Andrea Kent, was an eye-opening experience.

Mayor Jorge Prince said in the creation of the bylaws, the shared experience of the ridealong was hoped to bridge the diverse experiences of anticipated board members.

The council also approved the low quote for the repair of the First Street water tower, which would be covered by the city’s insurance, and also an amendment extending BSU’s lease at the Outdoor Program Center another three months.
