The Bemidji City Council will consider the lease changes with the Bemidji Area Chamber of Commerce and Visit Bemidji during their meeting tomorrow.
The Chamber plans to move from the Tourist Information Center to the Mayflower Building, where many start up businesses and entrepreneurs are located. Visit Bemidji will remain at the Tourist Information Center.
The council will also consider a resolution that would initiate phase 3 of the annexation of Northern Township.
In addition, the council will consider a resolution that would request an additional half cent sales tax from the state legislature to fund capital improvements in the region, which could include the wastewater treatment facility expansion, the water treatment plant to treat PFAs in the city’s wells, and capital improvement needs at the Sanford Center.
If the legislature grants this request, the city will then have the authority to put the additional tax as a referendum on ballots this November.
Both the annexation and the plans to request a tax were discussed at length during last week’s work session.
