BEMIDJI– The Bemidji City Council is scheduled to once again discuss the Rail Corridor during their meeting Monday.
According to city documents, the city’s next step in the project is applying for a Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development redevelopment grant.
This grant can be used for the acquisition, demolition and infrastructure improvements required for the Rail Corridor, and the grant application is due in August, with a grant project size of up to a million dollars.
During the last round of grants in early spring, the city opted not to go forward due to some council members’ apprehension of committing the city to a 50 percent match of that million dollar grant amount.
