Bemidji Fire Department releases 2019 report

The Bemidji Fire Department released its 2019 fire report in last week’s city newsletter. According to some statistics provided, the department responded to over 1000 calls for service, with 95 fire calls.

Of those,  20 were building fires.

In 2018, the fire department had 986 total calls and 125 fires. The year before, in 2017, there were 105 fires and 1985 total calls.

The city of Bemidji accounted for the majority of this year’s call numbers at 823, and Northern Township had 46 calls.

The Bemidji area had no deaths last year due to fire, but there were two civilian and one firefighter injury reported.

The estimated property loss due to fire was $939,766, and the dollar value saved from fires was over $4.7 million.
