Bemidji Fire receives sizable grant

The Bemidji Fire Department was recently awarded a sizable grant from the federal government.

According to a release from Bemidji Fire Chief David Hoefer, the $321,527 Assistance to Firefighter Grant was awarded from the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA.

The grant dollars will be used to purchase self-contained breathing apparatus devices, which will provide respiratory protection for firefighters.

Bemidji Fire serves 18 local governmental units in a 522 square mile area with a population of about 35,000.
