Bemidji Weekend Blotter: 10/14-10/17

The following is a summary of incidents the Bemidji Police Department and the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to on Thursday, Oct. 14, to Sunday, Oct. 17.

BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT

SUNDAY, OCT. 17

Suspicious, 10:39 p.m.

Officers responded to reports of suspicious activity in the area of an apartment complex under construction on Justice Rd. and Irvine Ave. NW. Determined to be a construction worker working overnight hours.

Welfare Check, 7:15 p.m.

Officers responded to the 3700 block of Division St. W for a welfare check. Contact was made with adult male subject who stated he was playing frisbee golf. No assistance was requested.

Property Damage, 2:13 p.m.

Report of graffiti on the 1200 block of 23rd St. NW. No suspects located.

Suspicious, 1:52 a.m.

Officers checked on a suspicious male carrying a table while riding a bicycle on the 800 block of 26th St. NW. Male was found to be free of wants and warrants and was released after being spoken with about the suspicious behavior.

SATURDAY, OCT. 16

DWI, 7:20 p.m.

Reckless vehicle on 29th St. and Beltrami Ave. NW. Driver arrested.

Medical, 2:01 p.m.

Possible overdose reported on the 2100 block of Roosevelt Rd. SE. Female was transported by ambulance with no action taken by law enforcement.

Assist, 10:00 a.m.

Caller requesting information about the witness protection program. He was referred to the FBI.

Animal, 7:53 a.m.

Report of two horses running in the roadway on Stoner Ave. and Roosevelt Rd. SE. Officers checked the area but were not able to find them.

FRIDAY, OCT. 15

DWI, 11:31 p.m.

Traffic stop on 1st St. E and Paul Bunyan Dr. S. Officers arrested the driver for DWI.

DWI, 11:06 p.m.

Traffic stop on the 500 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. S. Driver arrested.

Robbery, 10:28 p.m.

Reported robbery in progress by passerby on the 1100 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. S. Officers arrived within seconds and determined the report to be unfounded.

Suspicious, 9:24 p.m.

Hotel received an anonymous report that a guest was engaged in prostitution. Upon further review, officers learned that the female’s ex provided the hotel with false information.

Traffic Stop, 8:24 p.m.

Traffic stop on Mississippi Ave. and 8th St. NW. Driver arrested.

Disorderly Conduct, 11:11 a.m.

Adult male arrested for domestic assault on Technology Dr. NW.

Weapons Offenses, 9:29 a.m.

Adult male pointed an unloaded firearm at a coworker on the 3800 block of Moberg Dr. NW.

Assist, 9:17 a.m.

Agency assist on the 5500 block of Bemidji Ave. N. Subject arrested on DOC warrant.

Theft, 2:58 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of theft on the 2800 block of Ridgeway Ave. NW. Adult male placed under arrest.

THURSDAY, OCT. 14

Traffic Stop, 11:09 p.m.

Traffic stop on 29th St. and Delton Ave. NW. Adult male driver arrested for DWI.

Hazards (dangerous), 9:34 p.m.

Officer assisted the Bemidji Fire Department with several people stuck in an elevator on the 400 block of 19th St. NE. Elevator was able to be opened and the people were able to safely exit.

Accident, 3:38 p.m.

Accident on the 600 block of Minnesota Ave. NW. Driver arrested for DWI.

Harassment, 12:54 p.m.

Female reported that her ex-boyfriend won’t unlock a phone that she loaned to him and that when she asks him to do so, he calls her names and demands that she cook for him. Officer advised her that the phone is the only thing allowing him to control her anymore and advised her to find other ways to unlock the phone. Civil matter.

Welfare Check, 3:59 a.m.

Officers spoke with male individual who requested welfare check on ex-girlfriend and infant child, due to the fact the ex would not send photos of child during the middle of the night.

DWI, 12:21 a.m.

Traffic stop on Delton Ave. and 26th St. NW. Female driver was arrested for DWI, male passenger was arrested for local warrant.

BELTRAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

SUNDAY, OCT. 17

Warrant, 10:03 p.m.

Assisted with local warrant pickup from Red Lake Tribal PD. Additional charges for controlled substances.

Warrant, 5:46 p.m.

One arrested in Shooks.

Hazards (dangerous), 8:18 a.m.

Possible toxic items burning in a pile on the 200 block of Old Willow Ct. NW.

Disorderly Conduct, 1:21 a.m.

Complainant wanted a deputy to tell his son’s girlfriend to get vaccinated on Little Norway Ave. SE. Deputy advised they cannot do that. No further assistance needed.

SATURDAY, OCT. 16

Assist, 8:23 p.m.

Pursuit terminated prior to BCSO involvement, handled by RLPD on South Boundary Rd./Irvine Ave. NW in Nebish.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 7:59 p.m.

Reckless driving complaint on Beltrami Line Rd. and Becida Rd. SW. Driver arrested for DWI.

Welfare Check, 7:12 p.m.

Deputy checked on a male reported to be walking along Highway 71 with a stroller. Male was provided a courtesy ride to Blackduck, no child was with him.

Traffic Stop, 4:46 p.m.

One arrested on Highway 2 NW.

Violations/Court Orders, 10:30 a.m.

Deputy took report of a court order violation. One arrested on Maple Ave. NE.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 4:30 a.m.

Vehicle parked in the grass near highway on Olson Rd. and Highway 89. Driver arrested for DWI.

Accident, 3:01 a.m.

Semi turned on its side in median of highway on Highway 2 and Eckles Rd. NW. Vehicle unoccupied. State Patrol took over investigation.

FRIDAY, OCT. 15

Suspicious, 12:55 p.m.

Student found in possession of a weapon on school grounds in Blackduck.

Medical, 4:42 a.m.

Reported as an overdose on the 28900 block of Connection Dr. SE in Pennington. Leech Lake arrived and found both subjects left in a red truck. Ambulance and Sheriff’s Office canceled.

Assist, 4:25 a.m.

Assisted BCA with a search warrant on the 25800 block of Fisher Rd. NE in Blackduck.

THURSDAY, OCT. 14

Theft, 5:03 p.m.

Burglary of storage units reported on the 25500 block of Highway 72 NE in Blackduck.

Weapons Offenses, 4:26 p.m.

Report of damage to property on the 9900 block of Highway 2 in Wilton. Bullet hole sometime within the last month or two.

Pursuit, 12:12 p.m.

Deputies assisted Red Lake Public Safety with a vehicle pursuit on Cormant Rd.a nd Shiloh Dr. NE in Kelliher.
