Bemidji Weekend Blotter: 5/6-5/8

The following is a summary of incidents the Bemidji Police Department and the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to from Friday, May 6, through Sunday, May 8.

BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT

SUNDAY, MAY 8

Suspicious, 8:06 p.m.

Caller reporting unknown person in her basement on the 2800 block of Bemidji Ave. N. Caller then identified subject as a friend. No assistance needed.

Welfare Check, 12:08 p.m.

Officer responded to a welfare check request regarding a Facebook post on the 2800 block of Ridgeway Ave. NW. Subject was contacted and stated they were fine and needed no assistance, and apologized for posting song lyrics about dying. No further actions were taken.

Disorderly Conduct, 2:08 a.m.

Caller reported hearing gunshots on Roosevelt Rd. SE. Officers were nearby at the time of the call and had seen and heard aerial fireworks. Officers were unable to locate the source.

SATURDAY, MAY 7

Suspicious, 9:26 p.m.

Caller reported several people trying to gain access to a vacant residence on the 2500 block of Itasca Loop NW via a window. Subjects left prior to officer arrival. No damage found.

Assault, 6:48 a.m.

Officer took a report of a stabbing and a domestic assault on the 900 block of 26th St. NW. Case was referred to the County Attorney for review and determination of charges. One arrested.

Warrant, 12:04 a.m.

Officers arrested a male with a local warrant during a foot patrol on the 2800 block of Ridgeway Ave. NW.

FRIDAY, MAY 6

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 10:13 p.m.

Officer responded to a report of a truck pulling someone on a skateboard on the 2100 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Subjects were located and were verbally warned for their driving conduct, and asked to leave the premises.

Animal, 8:57 p.m.

Officers were advised of a bear in the area of the 900 block of 14th St. NW. The animal walked away from yards into the woods with no incident.

Welfare Check, 7:35 p.m.

Officers responded to a possible assault which was confirmed to have been two kids playing on the 1800 block of Birch Ln. NE. Unfounded.

DWI, 1:15 a.m.

Traffic stop on Paul Bunyan Dr. and Lake Shore Dr. NE. Adult male placed under arrest for DWI.

BELTRAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

SUNDAY, MAY 8

Assist, 7:44 p.m.

Male arrested for probation violation on the 2000 block of Francis Ct. SE.

Theft, 4:45 p.m.

Report of stolen sawmill parts on the 3800 block of Scribner Rd. NW.

Warrant, 10:17 a.m.

Female arrested for warrant on the 100 block of 6th St. NW in Cass Lake.

Suspicious, 7:15 a.m.

Deputies advised of a suspicious person on the 16600 block of Roosevelt Rd. SE. Female arrested for a warrant.

Accident, 12:04 a.m.

Accident on Highway 2 and Highway 89 in Wilton. Handled by MSP. One arrested.

SATURDAY, MAY 7

Accident, 10:55 p.m.

Vehicle rollover on Irvine Ave. and Markus Rd. NE in Puposky. Driver arrested for DWI.

Accident, 9:34 p.m.

Single vehicle accident with injuries on Pleasant Valley Rd. and Knutson Rd. NW in Durand Township.

Animal, 10:14 a.m.

Deputies advised of swans being shot on the 10000 block of Grant Creek Rd. NW.

DWI, 9:09 a.m.

Deputy responded to a reported OFP violation on Ady Ln. SW in Solway. One adult male arrested for violating the OFP, DWI, and possession of a controlled substance.

Burglary, 7:09 a.m.

Deputy responded to a burglary on the 13500 block of Thoren Dr. NW in Solway.

Juvenile/Status Crimes, 6:52 a.m.

Deputies investigated a suspicious phone call which resulted in the arrest of a juvenile female and multiple minor consume alcohol citations issued in Bemidji.

Traffic Stop, 3:52 a.m.

Traffic stop on 12th St. and Park Ave. NW. Driver arrested for DWI.

DWI, 2:01 a.m.

Traffic stop on Carr Lake Rd. and Lakeview Dr. SW. Driver arrested for DWI.

Civil, 1:02 a.m.

Male arrested for a warrant and violating a court order on the 2100 block of Roosevelt Rd. SE.

FRIDAY, MAY 6

Suspicious, 11:33 p.m.

Report of suspicious vehicles on Balsam Rd. and Star Ln. NW. Found to be a couple trying to watch planes land.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 9:52 p.m.

Assisted in searching the area for a wrong way driver on Highway 2 and Paul Bunyan Dr. SE. Vehicle was found to have struck a deer.
