Bemidji Weekend Blotter: 6/16-6/19

The following is a summary of incidents the Bemidji Police Department and the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to from Friday, June 16, through Monday, June 19.

BEMIDJI POLICE DEPARTMENT

MONDAY, JUNE 19

Welfare Check, 11:47 p.m.

WElfare check on a male yelling and throwing things into the roadway on the 1000 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. S. Officers spoke to the male who needed no assistance. Nothing was found in the roadway.

Assist, 8:15 p.m.

Report of child stuck in playground equipment on the 1700 block of Birchmont Dr. NE. Fire Department removed child from equipment.

Disorderly Conduct, 7:04 p.m.

Caller reported two unknown persons in his driveway on the 900 block of Minnesota Ave. NW. Subjects left immediately upon officer’s arrival.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 7:03 p.m.

Caller reported two vehicles racing on the roadway of Bemidji Ave. and 5th St. NW. Both vehicles left the area prior to officer arrival.

Medical, 5:40 p.m.

Officers responded to an overdose on the 900 block of Mississippi Ave. NW.

Traffic Stop, 4:28 p.m.

Traffic stop on Mississippi Ave. and 8th St. NW. Driver and passenger arrested on warrants.

Found, 3:08 p.m.

Hatchet found in bushes on the 1600 block of Minnesota Ave. NW. Placed in evidence.

Disorderly Conduct, 2:36 p.m.

Report of children causing problems with other children on the 2500 block of Ridgeway Ave. NW. Parents contacted.

Weapons Offenses, 1:45 p.m.

Kids playing airsoft/paintball on Lake Ave. NE. Numerous calls.

Assist, 11:13 a.m.

Reporting party requesting officers move her belongings out of her apartment. When told they don’t do that she became upset and hung up.

Assault, 8:18 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a subject having a mental health crisis who ran into a business on the 1400 block of Beltrami Ave. NW with an axe. One cited.

Trespass, 1:59 a.m.

Adult male arrested for trespass and disorderly conduct on the 1900 block of Birchmont Dr. NE.

SUNDAY, JUNE 18

911, 11:00 p.m.

Multiple 911 calls from adult male suffering from hallucinations on Beltrami Ave. NW. Stated he was having a panic attack, transported by EMS.

Assault, 10:28 p.m.

Officers responded to the report of an assault on the 6200 block of Bemidji Ave. N. Adult male arrested.

Suspicious, 9:20 p.m.

Suspicious male outside a bar on the 1200 block of Neilson Ave. SE. Gone on arrival/unable to locate.

Disorderly Conduct, 8:46 p.m.

Caller reported suspects launching fireworks from moving car on Bemidji Ave. and 19th St. NE. Unable to locate vehicle.

Property Damage, 8:38 p.m.

Property damage to window on the 3900 block of Irvine Ave. NW. Officer took pictures and report.

Warrant, 8:10 p.m.

Officer arrested male on local warrant after a foot pursuit on 11th St. and Beltrami Ave. NW.

Disorderly Conduct, 7:18 p.m.

People arguing, damage to property and theft on the 400 block of Wood Ave. SE.

Security Check, 6:40 p.m.

Report of yelling in a residential area on the 500 block of Wood Ave. SE. Officer checked the area and did not hear yelling or observe any signs of distress.

Animal, 4:28 p.m.

Inquiry about removing wild animals from yard on the 800 block of East Ave. NE. Information provided.

Suspicious, 2:41 p.m.

Report of people in yard of a residence on the 1200 block of Bemidji Ave. N. They reported they were there to look for a friend.

Suspicious, 12:05 p.m.

Report of suspicious people in the back yard of a local residence during the overnight hours on the 800 block of Beltrami Ave. NW.

Suspicious, 5:53 a.m.

Caller reported people talking in the sewer on 4th St. and Richards Ave. SE. Officer investigated and did not locate anyone in the storm sewer.

Suspicious, 1:42 a.m.

Caller heard unknown persons pounding on doors and windows on the 1000 block of 15th St. NW. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone.

SATURDAY, JUNE 17

Disorderly Conduct, 11:25 p.m.

Caller requested officers remove her roommate’s friends from residence on the 1100 block of Beltrami Ave. NW. Friends were there with roommate’s permission. No action taken.

Fraud, 8:40 p.m.

Restaurant reporting fraudulent electronic pizza delivery orders. Unable to trace location orders were placed from.

Medical, 7:15 p.m.

Medical call for unconscious male laying on the ground on the 1100 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Male was just sleeping and did not need medical assistance.

Disorderly Conduct, 7:34 a.m.

Request to remove tenants that were disrespectful on the 2500 block of Itasca Loop NW. Advised renter on how she could legally evict the individuals.

Suspicious, 5:39 a.m.

Suspicious people walking in park and near campus on the 1700 block of Birchmont Dr. NE, acting strange and hugging trees. Officers made contact with subjects determining that they were ok. No assistance requested.

Welfare Check, 2:03 a.m.

Caller heard a screaming noise coming from the woods behind her house on the 2200 block of Lake Ave. NE. Officers searched the area but didn’t find anything suspicious.

Civil, 1:39 a.m.

Reporting party claimed she was being harassed on the 2500 block of Bemidji Ave. N. Civil dispute over EBT cards.

FRIDAY, JUNE 16

Suspicious, 9:44 p.m.

Officer stopped an adult male who was concealing his identity in public on America Ave. NW. The male was advised to untie the shirt covering his face. No other actions taken.

Property Damage, 8:43 p.m.

Officer took the report of a house being egged and spray painted on the 300 block of Norwood Dr. NE.

Vehicle Calls/Complaints, 7:39 p.m.

Assisted BCSO on a traffic stop on the 2400 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW. Adult male driver arrested by BCSO. Officer transported the arrestee’s dogs to the animal impound.

Property Damage, 11:30 a.m.

Graffiti on fence on the 2900 block of Birchmont Dr. NE. Reporting party not wanting to pursue charges.

Theft, 10:48 a.m.

Theft of items from a vehicle that was left for service on the 2500 block of Middle School Dr. NW.

Theft, 6:54 a.m.

Officer took a theft from a vehicle report on the 700 block of 9th St. NW.

BELTRAMI COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

MONDAY, JUNE 19

Suspicious, 11:45 p.m.

Suspicious male entered home looking for 15-year-old daughter on Plantation Rd. SE in Cass Lake.

Juvenile/Status Crimes, 8:36 p.m.

Runaway juvenile arrested in Cass Lake.

Agency Assist, 4:57 p.m.

Male was arrested for DUI after driving over the curb at McDonald’s on the 1200 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW.

SUNDAY, JUNE 18

911, 8:06 p.m.

911 hang-up on Sirius Dr. NW. Party was skimming the pool. Accidental.

DWI, 6:09 p.m.

Burglary false report led to DWI arrest on the 400 block of Lake Ave. NE.

DWI, 4:33 p.m.

Adult arrested for DWI and DL status violation on Grange Rd. NW.

Family Crimes, 3:31 p.m.

Report that mother may be contributing to the delinquency of her minor child in Kelliher. Incident forwarded to Social Services.

911, 2:43 p.m.

911 misdial while golfing on Gull Lake Loop Rd. NE. No assistance needed.

Accident, 10:10 a.m.

Deputy assisted in searching for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident on the Red Lake Reservation. Unable to locate/gone on arrival on Irvine Ave. NW.

Welfare Check, 10:10 a.m.

Complaint of a young child allegedly being aggressively slapped in the face by an adult male in Bemidji.

Weapons Offenses, 4:40 a.m.

Report of shots fired on the 19300 block of Mission Rd. SE. One male arrested.

SATURDAY, JUNE 17

Fire, 6:15 p.m.

Deputy responded to an oven fire on the 10000 block of East Way NW. Was a very baked potato. No action taken.

Weapons Offenses, 12:54 a.m.

Multiple parties arrested after a male was threatened with a firearm and axe handle on the 12800 block of Highway 89 NW.

FRIDAY, JUNE 16

Assault, 10:01 p.m.

Reported domestic assault in Blackduck. Juvenile male arrested for misdemeanor domestic assault.

Fire, 9:31 p.m.

Reported large bonfire on Thomas Rd. SW. Fire was put out.

DWI, 7:39 p.m.

Adult arrested for DWI on the 2400 block of Paul Bunyan Dr. NW.

Welfare Check, 6:45 p.m.

Welfare check on Fox Ridge Ct. NE. One arrested.

911, 3:10 p.m.

911 misdial while golfing on Golf View Dr. NE. No assistance needed.

Accident, 2:40 p.m.

Deputy took a report of a vehicle accident involving a bear on Highway 89 in Puposky.

Civil, 1:10 p.m.

Civil issue regarding propane tank being repossessed by gas company on Debs Rd. NW in Pinewood.

Property Damage, 1:05 p.m.

Complaint of slashed tire from a known individual on the 19100 block of Highway 89 NW.

Property Damage, 8:15 a.m.

Deputy took a report of property damage. Upon arrival, deputy located a tipped-over Port-A-John, no damage done, company was advised.

Welfare Check, 6:27 a.m.

Deputy conducted a welfare check on an adult male stumbling down roadway on Cardinal Rd. and Balsam Rd. NW. Male was given a courtesy ride to grandparents’ house.

Suspicious, 4:08 a.m.

Report of a female that was possibly kidnapped on Bear Den Canoe Rd. SW in Solway. Male party located and arrested.
