Bemidji woman killed in crash near Gonvick

A Bemidji woman was killed and a Shevlin woman was seriously injured in a Gonvick crash Sunday morning.

The state patrol says 22-year-old Morgan Avenson of Bemidji was eastbound on Highway 92 when she lost control.

The 1998 Toyota 4Runner rolled multiple times. Avenson was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger, 29-year-old Kendra Platow of Shevlin, was transported to Sanford Fargo for life-threatening injuries.

It is not known if Avenson was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, just before 3 in the morning.

Gonvick Fire, Sanford Bagley EMS, Fosston Essentia EMS, and the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
