BNSF Bridge damaged in fire

The BNSF Bridge was moderately damaged in a fire Monday afternoon.

According to the Bemidji Fire Department, a Bemidji Police Officer reported the blaze between Lakes Irving and Bemidji around 4 p.m., with a large fire coming from under the bridge.

Firefighters were on scene for about two hours, and the cause, at this time, is not suspicious.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office will assist in the ongoing investigation.
