Captain Jason Riggs announces intention to run for Beltrami Sheriff

A third candidate has announced candidacy for Beltrami County Sheriff.

Beltrami County Sheriff’s Captain Jason Riggs is now the second from the office to announce intentions to run, joining Chief Deputy Jarrett Walton.

Riggs has more than 21 years of law enforcement experience and has also held public office.

Riggs is a former mayor and council member of Blackduck.

Sheriff Ernie Beitel announced his plans of retirement earlier this year and has endorsed Walton.

The first to announce intentions to run was Bidal Duran, a former Bemidji Police Officer who now works in Hubbard County.
