In addition to continued public hearings on the outdoor dining amendments, the Bemidji City Council will hold a first reading on another amendment.
This one concerns the approaching expiration of an existing agreement with Waste Management at the end of April.
The solid waste collection ordinance amendment would move to an open system of collection of commercial refuse pickup and hauling within the city.
The City would continue to oversee residential pickup, but it would open the commercial collection to the private sector on a competitive basis.
The amended ordinance would also establish and require a new city license. The license would stipulate bonding and insurance requirements.
This would be the first reading, with a second to come Feb. 22.
