Council to discuss draft code of conduct in work session

The Bemidji City Council will discuss a draft code of conduct in their work session tonight.

The theme throughout the written expectations of behavior is respect and behavioral norms of elected officials, with guidelines on communicating with the community, with city staff, with each other, and even on private social media or over text and email with respect to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.

The Bemidji Charter Commission tasked the council with drafting this code of conduct earlier in the year.

The council opted to use a facilitator from the League of Minnesota Cities to preside over the work session to allow the six council members and the mayor to participate fully.
