COVID-19 updates Aug. 11

COVID-19 cases continue to climb around the state, with 1,690 new cases reported statewide yesterday.

Here in Beltrami County, 17 new COVID cases were reported Tuesday, with 61 new cases reported in the last week.

The case rate, according to the CDC’s metric of new COVID cases in the last seven days per 100,000 people, is over 127.

Testing positivity is around 4.5 percent.

More eligible Beltrami County residents have received at least their first dose of a COVID vaccine, at nearly 66 percent, with 55.6 percent fully vaccinated.

Clearwater County was just downgraded to high COVID transmission, joining Beltrami and Hubbard counties. Cass County remains in substantial COVID transmission.

The CDC recommends wearing masks indoors in areas of substantial or high transmission.

Anyone 12 and older who gets vaccinated before Aug. 15 can claim a $100 Visa Gift card at mn.gov/covid19/100.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 4,199 COVID cases and 63 deaths.

In total, Minnesota has had 620,591 COVID-19 cases and 7,705 deaths. As of Tuesday, 606,738 patients were out of isolation, leaving 6,148 active COVID cases in Minnesota.
