COVID updates for Tuesday, Oct. 12

Beltrami County Public Health Director Megan Heuer reported Monday afternoon that her department was monitoring 309 active cases of COVID-19, which is around 100 fewer active cases than last Thursday.

Heuer also reported Monday that 23 COVID patients are occupying local hospital beds, with 14 being Beltrami County residents.

“We often see a dip in cases the first part of every week,” said Heuer.

“I anticipate this number will increase as the week progresses. We would need to see several lower days before I was confident our numbers in the community have actually decreased.”

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 7,942 new COVID-19 cases and 10 new deaths Tuesday.

Data reported Tuesdays generally includes tests completed over the weekend, as well as on Monday.

Of those new cases, 115 were in Beltrami County, 103 were in Cass County, 24 were in Clearwater County, and 57 were in Hubbard County.
