COVID updates for Tuesday, Oct. 19

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 2,868 new COVID-19 cases Monday and 29 new deaths.

Of the new cases, 40 were in Beltrami County, 27 were in Cass County, four were in Clearwater County and eight were in Hubbard County.

One of the deaths reported Monday was a Beltrami County resident in their late 60s.

Monday reports generally include test information gathered on Friday.

Of the 5,686 new COVID cases reported by MDH on Tuesday, 88 were in Beltrami County, 48 were in Cass County, 16 were in Clearwater County and 22 were in Hubbard County.

Tuesday reports generally include test information gathered on the weekend, as well as on Monday.

Twenty-one new COVID deaths were also reported Tuesday, one of them a Beltrami County resident in their early 60s.

Beltrami County Public Health Director Megan Heuer reports that as of Tuesday afternoon, there were 293 active COVID-19 cases and 18 hospitalizations. Thirteen of those patients are Beltrami County residents.

Since the pandemic began, Beltrami County has had 6,459 cases and 78 deaths, Cass County has had 4,207 cases and 42 deaths, Clearwater County has had 1,355 cases and 18 deaths, and Hubbard County has had 2,867 cases and 44 deaths.
