Crime Data Explorer from BCA launched, a new tool to track crime in neighborhoods across the state

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension recently released a statewide Crime Data Explorer website.

The online tool shows Beltrami County has had 952 arrests so far this year.

Eighty-six of those were minors under 18 released to other agencies.

Arrestable crimes that topped the list for the county in 2022 include driving under the influence at 219, shoplifting at 193, drug violations at 103, and simple assault at 90.

Hubbard County has had 828 arrests so far this year, Clearwater County has had 36, and Cass County has had 234.

In 2021, Beltrami County had 1,978 arrests over the year. The most significant spike in arrests was between June and July 2021.

The top arrestable crimes in the county over 2021 were:

  • Driving Under the Influence (399)
  • Shoplifting (340)
  • Drug/Narcotic Violations (226)
  • Simple Assault (182)

There appears to be no domestic violence category, but 195 arrests in 2021 were for “all other offenses.”
