Early voting for the first special election to fill the Ward 5 Bemidji seat will begin next week.
Five candidates are vying for the seat once held by long-time council member Nancy Erickson before her resignation nine months into her fourth term.
Lynn Eaton, Bill Batchelder, Don Heinonen, Micaiah Graham and Kevin Campbell all submitted their affidavits of candidacy during the filing period that closed last week.
Mail-in ballots will be available on request, early voting in-person will be from Dec. 27 through Feb. 7 at City Hall.
Northwest Technical College is the polling place for the special election on Feb. 8.
