Watermark welcomes “A Quilter’s Perspective – 1915 to Present Day.” Curated by Bonnie Lundorff and on display in the Kaul Gallery, the public is invited to an open house on Saturday, February 5 from 2 to 4pm. The exhibit will be on display February 5th to March 26th, 2022.
Every quilter has their own interpretation of what quilting is.
For some it is the utilitarian bed-sized variety that Grandma made from scraps while others envision uniform geometrics designed to re-create recognizable patterns.
Through the evolution of society, design, necessity, and economics, quilting has taken on new meaning. “A Quilter’s Perspective,” Lundorff broadens the definition of quilting for visitors while highlighting the diverse personalities who make them.
From traditionally pieced wall hangings and bed quilts to abstract and contemporary art quilts you will discover a whole new meaning to the word quilt.
Watermark galleries are free and open to the public Monday – Saturday from 10 to 5pm and located at 505 Bemidji Avenue N. in Bemidji, Minnesota. For more information visit watermarkartcenter.org or call 218-444-7570. Masks are required for all indoor visitors.
