THURSDAY, AUGUST 3

10–10:45 a.m. The Story Tree: Loon

At the Amphitheater.

Young nature explorers are invited each Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. to The Story Tree preschool program. We will discover nature through a variety of activities like stories, crafts, games, and short walks. Children of all ages are welcome, but activities will be designed specifically for children ages 3-5.

Adults must accompany children.

Meet at the Amphitheater behind the Visitor Center. If it is raining, we will meet in the Visitor Center.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 4

11 a.m.–12 p.m. Busy Beavers

At the Playground.

Beavers play an important role in nature and in the park. Come see what these busy animals are all about and get to feel and smell some interesting things. Stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Meet at the playground. If it rains, meet in the Visitor Center.

1:30–2:30 p.m. Can You Guess the Weather?

At the Marina.

Have you ever noticed the different sizes, shapes, and heights of clouds? These differences are not a coincidence, and they can tell us the future of the weather! By gazing at the clouds, we can discover if it will be a beautiful sunny day or if a storm is brewing. With the help of fun activities, you will be able to predict the future of the weather too!

Meet at the picnic tables by the Marina on the south end of the playground parking lot.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9

2:30–4 p.m. Archery in the Parks

At the West Picnic Area.

Archery in the Parks is hands-on instruction shooting a bow and arrow from certified instructors in a safe and supportive environment. Aim for a family adventure with kid-friendly equipment designed for beginners aged 8 and older. Children aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment is provided. Personal archery equipment is not allowed.

Participants will be outside for the program. Be prepared for standing in the sun. Bring along sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, insect repellant and water. Program will be canceled if raining.

Meet in the West Picnic Area.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 11

8:30-10:00 p.m. A Night Under the Stars

Gaze in awe at the night sky at Lake Bemidji State Park! For this program there will be a short presentation on constellations and night sky photography. Then we will view stars, planets, and more through a telescope, roast marshmallows and listen to a story.

You don’t need to bring any equipment, but a flashlight and insect repellent is recommended.

Pre-registration is required and is limited to 30 participants. All ages are welcome. To register, call the park office at 218-308-2300 or email christa.drake@state.mn.us.

Program will depend on weather conditions and visibility. Please check with the park for the most up to date information.

This program is free, but vehicles need to display a valid MN State Park Permit upon entering the park. Please stop by the office or purchase beforehand. $7 one-day permit, $35 year-round permit.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 12

3–4:30 p.m. Outgoing Otters

At the Playground.

Stop by anytime between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to learn fun facts about the sociable otters that can be found in Minnesota and the park. When you come by, you’ll be able to feel a furry otter pelt, watch a live otter cam, and answer questions to win a prize!

Meet at the Playground. If it rains, meet in the Visitor Center.

10–10:45 a.m. The Story Tree: Little Beaver and the Echo

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18

1:30–3 p.m. Bog Discovery: Ask a Naturalist

At the Bog Boardwalk.

What is a bog? When can I see showy lady’s slippers? Where are the sundews? Have these and other questions answered by the park naturalist who will be strolling along the bog boardwalk.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 24

10–10:45 a.m. The Story Tree: Animal Homes

At the Amphitheater.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 26

9–10 a.m. Yoga at the Beach

At the Beach.

Join Mandi from Amity Yoga for a gentle, beginner friendly, yoga class by the lake. Class will begin with a centering breath practice followed by slow mindful movements. The session will end with a guided meditation. Bring your own yoga mat, towel, or blanket.

Meet at the beach by the fishing pier.

2–3 p.m. Dutch Oven Cooking

At the Dining Hall.

Want to find out how to cook over a fire with Dutch ovens? Come to the fire ring next to the Dining Hall to learn more and sample some hot and tasty food!
