The 33rd season of the Summer Recital Series presented by the Bemidji Area Church Musicians will conclude on Wednesday, August 26, 12:00 noon as a “virtual recital.” This season of recitals has been successful despite COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings. The series has been video recorded and presented on Face Book and You Tube each Wednesday noon. Each performance is archived and can continue to be accessed in the coming months.
Much credit goes to Shar Paquette, music director at Calvary Lutheran Church, who has handled the video recording and posting of the recitals throughout the summer. We are also grateful to Lakeland Public Television for broadcasting our summer recital series, throughout the season.
The recitals have been aired on KAWE TV on Saturdays at 4:30 (right before Lawrence Welk) and again on Sundays at 10 am. We are grateful for their help to expand our audience during this time of social distance and restrictions.
The final virtual concert of the Bemidji Area Church Musicians Series is presented by First Lutheran Church in Bemidji. The concert will feature Sarah Carlson on organ and piano, and Robert Madeson on Euphonium. The concert’s theme will be “Ordner seg” (It’ll be alright), a Norwegian expression.
One of the pieces to be performed has that title and was written by Norwegian composer Oystein Baadsvik. The concert includes music that describes majesty, beauty, playfulness, and other aspects of the human experience. The final selection will be What A Wonderful World.

Many people have contributed throughout the summer. Thank you for supporting the programs of scholarships for freshman college students in music study, Fellowships for BSU students to serve in Bemidji churches, and scholarships for young organ students.
