Headwaters CoffeeHouse welcomes the new year with an open-mic gathering Friday, January 3 at 7pm at Headwaters Music and Arts in Bemidji. Sign-up begins at 6:30 or by email to jjhgaard@gmail.com.
Lost River Band will appear as this month’s featured performers. With 2019 Bemidji Sings! winner Kari Grace on vocals, Jay Forney on guitar and banjo, and Jeff Anderson on accordion, Lost River Band delivers a unique Americana sound.
Held on the first Friday of most months, the CoffeeHouse offers a supportive and family-friendly open-mic opportunity for musicians and spoken-word performers. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to sign up for a 10 to 15 minute set.
Lost River Band came together in Bemidji over the last several years. Forney and Anderson arrived from Thief River Falls and Wilmington, Delaware, respectively; Grace from the Cities. “Playing with Lost River Band allows me the chance to make art,” Forney noted. “We use music as paint.”
Admission is $3 per person or $7 for families. Coffeehouse fare is available for purchase.
Headwaters CoffeeHouse is a volunteer-led community event. Contact John Henningsgaard at 444-9845 for more information.
