Headwaters Music and Arts hosts their Open Mic and CoffeeHouse April 7 starting at 7pm. The monthly community gathering offers a friendly open mic opportunity and welcoming environment for folks to listen and perform at Headwaters Music and Arts (519 MN Ave NW, Bemidji). April’s featured performer will be Debbie Center. Sign-up for the Open Mic begins at 6:30 or by email to jjhgaard@gmail.com.
Debbie Center is a classically trained pianist with a passion for improvising psychedelic and classic rock songs, especially when jamming with other like-minded musicians. Among her favorite bands are The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues, and Stevie Wonder, though she is inspired by many more. In addition to her solo piano gigs Debbie also performs with a number of other musicians throughout northern Minnesota and the Twin Cities. She enjoys composing piano music inspired by her gratitude for living in beautiful Nevis, Minnesota. Debbie will perform a variety of tunes on April 3.
Held on the first Friday of most months, the Headwaters Open Mic and CoffeeHouse offers a welcoming and supportive community for musicians and spoken-word performers. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to sign up for a 10 to 15 minute set.
Admission is $3 per person or $7 for families. Coffee and treats are available for purchase courtesy of Apple Blossom Village in partnership with Starbucks.
Headwaters Open Mic and CoffeeHouse is a volunteer-led community event. You can contact John Henningsgaard at 218.444.9845 for more information.
