Five seriously injured in weekend crash

Five were seriously injured in a crash Saturday evening in Cass County.

According to Sheriff Tom Burch, deputies and responders arrived to 43rd Avenue and found two vehicles involved in a head-on crash at the crest of a hill, with one vehicle, a 2001 Chevy Pickup, fully engulfed in flames.

The three male occupants of the pickup were treated on scene for their serious injuries and were ultimately airlifted to Metro and Fargo hospitals for further treatment.

The other vehicle, a 2005 Nissan, sustained serious damage, and a man and a woman were treated on scene and transported to local hospitals for further treatment of serious injuries.

The Walker Police Department, Walker Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol, North Memorial Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care assisted at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
