Fosston woman killed in Mahnomen County crash

A 78-year-old Fosston woman was killed in a crash Christmas Day north of Mahnomen.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the woman was northbound in a Ford Crown Victoria on Highway 59 when she lost control and spun out into the southbound lane. A Dodge Grand Caravan collided with the Ford after 11 a.m.

Road conditions were snowy and icy at the time.

The driver of the Caravan, Tisa Jones of Underwood, was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a Mahnomen hospital, as was her passenger.

The Caravan occupants were wearing their seatbelts, and the patrol said alcohol was not a factor in this crash.

Information on the victim of the crash is expected to be released at noon today.

The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office and White Earth Tribal Police Department also responded to the call.
