Gov. Walz to end emergency powers Aug. 1, budget close to completion

Gov. Tim Walz announced Friday that emergency powers will end on Aug. 1.

Legislators agreed on an off-ramp to the eviction moratorium earlier this month.

The 105-day off-ramp provides protections and a clear timeline for landlords and tenants.

Gov. Walz signed five of the budget omnibus bills into law, including legacy, transportation, commerce and energy, agriculture, and higher education.

Since Friday, the House passed the Health & Human Services, the Jobs and Labor, and the E-12 education budgets.
