Greater Bemidji launches Small Business Check-Up Initiative

Greater Bemidji, in partnership with 4-Directions Development and Leech Lake Financial Services, is launching a Small Business Check-Up Initiative.

Through a grant from Minnesota DEED, this initiative will provide business analysis and support to existing and emerging small regional businesses.

“With Greater Bemidji increasingly becoming a resource for small, locally-owned businesses, this grant provides us the opportunity to offer additional business support, training and resources free of charge,” said Greater Bemidji Executive Director Dave Hengel.

“We have worked hard to develop a toolbelt of resources that can support these businesses and their owners.”

The support is free and the group has a goal to reach 100 businesses before the end of the year.

Leadership from the local economic development agency will sit down with business owners and listen to challenges and hear about successes.

The Small Business Support Team can then provide evaluation for financials, marketing, staffing and leadership, industry and market assessment, facility and site selection, and succession planning.

“The purpose of this initiative is to support the important role small businesses play in producing job growth and strengthening our community. We want to support and facilitate success,” said Hengel.

“Small business is essential to the health of our community and we are ready to continue to support that sector of industry to the best of our ability.”

Small businesses throughout the region are encouraged to connect with Greater Bemidji at (218)444-5757 to learn more about the initiative.
