Home significantly damaged in house fire

A home was significantly damaged by a fire Tuesday morning.

The Bemidji Fire Department responded to the 4,000 block of Cardinal Rd. NW around 9:40 a.m. Firefighters spent 90 minutes bringing the fire under control and 27 were on the scene for about five hours.

When firefighters arrived, the garage was fully engulfed in flames, with smoke and fire extending to the home’s attic space.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The fire is still under investigation but is believed to be an accident.

The Solway Fire Department, Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Bemidji Ambulance Service, Minnesota Energy, Beltrami Electric and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted at the scene.
