Horse shot dead in apparent hunting accident

A horse was apparently shot dead near Nimrod after what law enforcement believes was a hunting accident.

According to a release from the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a horse stable northwest of Nimrod last week.

The property owner said he had returned home and found the smaller Colt horse frozen and lying on the ground with a bullet hole.

There are no suspects at this time, but anyone with information is asked to contact the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office.
