Juvenile bicyclist seriously injured in apparent hit-and-run

The Bemidji Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating the vehicle that apparently fled the scene of a serious bicycle crash early this morning.

First responders arrived at the 2000 block of Park Ave. NW around 2 a.m. and found a 17-year-old male who was apparently struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle on Park Ave. NW.

The teen said he was struck from behind by a full-size, dark-colored SUV, similar to a Chevy Tahoe or Cadillac Escalade.

The teen was ultimately transferred from Bemidji Medical Center to a trauma center in Fargo for further evaluation.

Citizens can also provide anonymous tips through CrimeStoppers MN to possibly qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

The Bemidji Fire Department and Bemidji Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
