Man found dead inside burning house, other man suffered multiple gunshot wounds

A body was found in a burning house near Wilton early yesterday morning.

According to a release, deputies were called to the 11,000 block of Trengrove Road after midnight on Sunday on report of gunshots and a residential fire.

When deputies arrived, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames and an adult male in an adjacent outbuilding suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The male was transported to the Sanford Bemidji Emergency Department. His condition is currently unknown and his identity is not being released at this time.

After the fire was extinguished, a body was located inside the home. A pending autopsy and formal identification will be conducted by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation is still ongoing and no further information has yet been released.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Bemidji Fire Department, Bemidji Ambulance Service, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the state patrol and the state fire Marshal’s Office.
