UPDATED: Suspect arrested in last week’s homicide in Cass Lake

A man was reportedly shot and killed near Cass Lake Tuesday night.

According to a release from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 15,000 block of Roosevelt Rd. SE in rural Cass Lake, on report of a male being shot outside a residence.

The man was found dead upon arrival. The body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The victim has not been identified.

A 21-year-old Duluth man, Montana O.A. Cutbank, of Duluth, was arrested by the Duluth Police Department Saturday afternoon.

The Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are assisting with the investigation.

Cutbank is expected to be arraigned on murder, robbery, and weapons offenses tomorrow, according to Sheriff Ernie Beitel.
