Meet the Candidates for Minnesota House 2A

Two party-endorsed candidates are in the running to represent Minnesota’s new 2A district, which includes the City of Bemidji and areas further north such as the Red Lake Reservation, all the way up to the Northwest Angle.

Candidates are listed in the order in which they were interviewed.

REED OLSON (DFL)

Reed Olson has been a Beltrami County Commissioner since 2016, having served the City of Bemidji prior to that in a special election for Ward 4.

Olson is also the executive director for the Nameless Coalition for the Homeless, an agency that provides shelter for the area’s most difficult-to-house population.

MATT GROSSELL (GOP)

Matt Grossell has served the former 2A district since 2016 as a representative. Grossell is a retired law enforcement official from Clearwater County and resides in Clearbrook.

Grossell is passionate about holding producers and distributors of child pornography accountable and if elected, would continue his push to increase sentences for these offenders.
