Minnesotans can register to vote online, midterms just around the corner

September is Voter Registration Month with the midterm elections just around the corner.

Minnesotans can register to vote, check their registration and update their registration from a computer or smartphone using mnvotes.gov.

Early voting begins Sept. 23.

As many as 550,000 Minnesotans who are eligible to vote are not yet registered. Registration is especially important for those who live in mail-in ballot precincts.

Secretary of State Steve Simon says more than 150,000 Minnesotans live in areas that vote exclusively by mail–without a local polling place.

Registered voters in these areas will be mailed ballots starting Sept. 23, which must be returned by Nov. 8.
