Cass County authorities responded to several serious ATV crashes over Memorial Day weekend.
A 15-year-old Little Canada boy lost control near rural Boy River and needed helicopter transport to a Twin Cities hospital after striking several trees Saturday morning.
A 42-year-old Shakopee woman with a three-year-old passenger struck a tree Sunday in rural Hackensack.
Both the woman and the toddler needed helicopter transport to Twin Cities area hospitals after being thrown from the machine.
Speed was an indicated factor in both of the crashes.
A third crash near rural Backus also needed serious hospitalization; a 56-year-old Sleepy Eye man lost control and rolled into a watery ditch Sunday evening.
He was treated on scene and later transported by helicopter to a Fargo hospital.
