Neilson Reise on the agenda for the Public Affairs Committee

Bemidji’s Public Affairs Committee is set to meet Monday to discuss the Neilson Reise COVID preparedness plan.

This has been a topic of some contention in recent City Council meetings.

During the Sept. 14 meeting, the council directed staff to prepare this plan.

The governor’s latest COVID-19 restrictions, as outlined in the executive order 20-99, include indoor sports facilities, and exercise facilities, as closed to members of the public.

The arena has been closed since March 16th due to COVID concerns, and the reopening costs would include a minimum of $5,000 for outside contractors, and would take 3-4 weeks for ice to be put in and for the facility to prepare for opening.
