Olson leads Vene in District 2 contest, Thayer leads Gould in Ward 1 race

The unofficial Election Results for some local races have changed, due to a mix-up with the Secretary of State’s Office website.

According to Beltrami County Administrator Kay Mack, Auditor-Treasurer JoDee Treat reported that absentee ballots cast in the City of Bemidji were counted but not transmitted properly to the Secretary of State.

Those ballots were included in the unofficial results by Wednesday afternoon. Audrey Thayer leads Joe Gould by nearly 70 votes in the City’s Ward 1 contest, and Reed Olson leads Joe Vene by a few hundred votes in the County’s District 2 race.

While the added ballots closed the gap in other contests, the results largely remain the same.

The results have yet to be canvassed, so they are still unofficial until then.
