“Perilously close” to hospital capacity

As Minnesota prepares for a four-week “pause” on gatherings and social activities, Gov. Tim Walz hosted another press conference Thursday afternoon, which featured many medical providers.

CEO of Allina Health Dr. Penny Wheeler said that this pause will give health care workers the reprieve they need to take care of Minnesotans.

The latest restrictions go into effect just before midnight on Friday, which include no social gatherings outside the household, no dine-in at restaurants and bars, and a four-week closure of gyms, fitness centers, entertainment venues, as well as a pause on youth sports.

Landmarks across Minnesota were lit purple last night, on Nov. 19, in honor of the more than 3,000 Minnesotans lost to COVID-19.
