A local nonprofit, non-partisan group is planning a “Protest to Policy to Progress” rally at Paul Bunyan Park this Monday, Sept. 7, from 2 to 5 p.m.
According to a release, the rally will feature speakers that will address social justice issues.
“In light of the continued police violence occurring across the country, Project for Change wants to continue the conversation of social and criminal justice reform within our community with the goal of policy change that results in a more equitable Bemidji,” said the release.
Project for Change plans to abide by Minnesota Department of Health gathering guidelines, such as mask requirements and social distancing. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available at the event, and microphones will be sanitized between speakers.
Project for Change is described as a “change group, formed on building awareness, creating social opportunities, and enriching the quality of life for historically marginalized, disadvantaged, oppressed and resilient black and brown communities through policy, accountability and action.”
More information on the rally is available on Facebook.
