The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 21-year-old Brennon Sayers entered guilty pleas to two counts of assault.
According to court documents, in May 2021, Sayers was arguing with his girlfriend outside a Ponemah home when one of the victims, “J.L.Z.” came from his house across the street and told Sayers to stop.
Another victim, “C.T.G.,” who was walking down the road, encountered the interaction.
As the confrontation between Sayers and J.L.Z. escalated, Sayers pulled a firearm from his waistband and began shooting at both J.L.Z. and C.T.G.
Both victims were struck by gunfire.
Sayers was located several hours later at his mother’s home.
Sayers will be sentenced on June 13, 2022.
The Red Lake Police Department and the FBI Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force conducted the investigation.
